The most recent General Chapter (South Africa) calls
the Brothers and the Edmund Rice Movement to embrace the FOUR DIRECTIONS as authentic
expressions of Edmund's charism for today.
|
|
 |
In light of these four directions:
- The Edmund Rice Movement needs to be open, accepting and inclusive of members whose
lives are enriched and nourished by a variety of spiritual traditions.
- The Spirit is calling us to respond in radical ways to the needs of our times, and we
accept that there are prophetic voices within the Edmund Rice Movement and society.
- Australian society is searching for a deeper sense of identity, a more spiritual
awareness in relationship with all creation.
- The society in which we live is flexible, changing and mobile. Therefore formation
in the Edmund Rice Movement needs to accept and reflect this fact.
- Responding to the cry of the poor and the marginalised touches what is at the heart of
Edmund's Charism.
- We acknowledge the Spirit of God's presence in each individual's journey and in the
Edmund Rice Movement.
Young people may grow tired and weary, youths may stumble, but those who hope in
Yahweh renew their strength, they put out wings like eagles. They run and do not
grow weary, walk and never tire.. (Isaiah 40: 30-31)
